Abstract:
Regenerative braking produces energy for railway transportation by converting kinetic energy into electric energy. In this paper we have proposed a new approach to improve the energy efficiency of railway transportation. In order to increase the total regenerative braking energy in a blended braking mode with both electric and mechanical braking forces, we have applied a linear controller by using a simulation in MATLAB software. To control the speed of three-phase electric motors, V/F control method have been used. Due to slow response time for this method of speed control, we used a closed-loop control method of linear regression. By using this method, between %40 and %50 of the primary energy can be returned to the system. The designed method is very attractive for applications in energy saving systems due to low lost and high efficiency
