Abstract:

A continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) is a typical example of chemical industrial equipment, whose dynamicsrepresent an extensive nonlinear system. It has been witnessed that designing a good control algorithm for the CSTRis very challenging due to the high complexity. In this paper a robust fuzzy sliding mode controller for concentrationcontrol of a certain continuous stirred tank reactor in the presence of measurements noise is proposed. An extendedKalman filter is used to estimate the concentrations in the reactor, which is frequently not available. The Kalman filterpermits one to adjust a model of some physical process. The purpose is to determine the parameters of an a priorimodel. This nonlinear controller can eliminate the chattering problem that emerges in the conventional sliding modecontrol. This controller can control most of the complex systems without knowing their mathematical model; and thedynamics behavior of the controlled system can be approximately dominated by a fuzzified sliding surface Since thefuzzy rules are adjusted base on Lyapunov like equation, the stability of the system is guaranteed.
