Abstract:

In this paper, optimal placement of Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) and reconfiguration isperformed simultaneously. For this purpose, two objective functions are defined to reduce power losses and improve thevoltage profile. Another contribution of this research work is proposing a novel model for UPQC. The problem isoptimized by Genetic Algorithm (GA). Simulation is performed in IEEE 69 bus distribution network and threescenarios introduced for this system. In first and second scenarios reconfiguration and UPQC placement are performedseparately while in third scenario these works are done simultaneously. Capability of GA to solve the problem isconfirmed by comparing its results with related values of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. (Style: TimesNew Roman, 10pt, Italic)
