Abstract:

Recently, bipolar transmission lines HV and four-circuit transmission lines have become popular in many countries. The main advantage of using a quadruple transmission line is that it helps solve environmental issues such as geography and land access. In this study, a new method is proposed to accurately determine the location of the fault in parallel four- circuit transmission lines, which uses the measured voltage signals at the end of one side of the line. In this method, the harmonic components of the voltage signal at the end of one side of the line are extracted using Discrete Fourier transformation and then normalized. In the proposed locating method, Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is trained using normalized harmonic components. To evaluate the proposed method, the frequency- dependent model of the transmission line in simulation software PSCAD. The results obtained from fault locating in 400 kV transmission line with 100 km length in different locations along with different fault start angles and different resistances indicate high accuracy of the proposed method. It also indicates that the proposed method is the least dependent on important parameters such as fault start angle, fault resistance, amplitude and the direction of flow before fault while is most dependent on fault location.
