Abstract:
This study reports on findings of an investigation into English as a foreign language (EFL) learners perceptions of willingness to communicate through the new junior high schools textbooks (Prospect). The participants were 100 language learners atBojnourd high schools(13-15years old).Three measures of willingness to communicate(WTC), and self-perceived communication competence (SPCC) developed by McCroskey and his colleagues (1987, 1988) were given to the participants. The findings show that the textbooks modestly affected the learner’s willingness to communicate in L2. The effect of the textbooks on the SPCC was low. Also the results indicated that WTC and self-perceived communication competence are positively correlated.
