Biopestisides: Introduction, Advantages and Opportunities

The green revolution technology characterized by the use of high yielding varieties, chemical fertilizer, pesticides and water has resulted in a phenomenal growth in agriculture productivity. While the gains have been very impressive, the input intense agriculture has resulted in some undesirable effects on the environment and the overall sustainability of the farming systems. Agriculture and forests form an important resource to sustain global economic, environmental and social system. For this cause, the global challenge is to secure high and quality yields and to make agricultural produce environmentally compatible. Convectional pesticides have been utilized for decades to protect stored grain from pests, but their harmful environmental impact and pest resistance resulting from the need for increased pesticide use have triggered researchers to look for eco-friendly, biodegradable and potent pesticides. The demand for environmentally suitable products for use in integrated pest management has developed in recent years, Bio pesticides are biochemical pesticides that are naturally occurring substances that control pests by nontoxic mechanisms. Through this survey we try to reintroduce bio pesticides as a best way of pest control and reviewed the advantages and opportunities and also probable disadvantages of them.
