Abstract:

it is the objective of the current study to investigate the effect of the recently developed corner strip-batten CSB techniqud on square columns confinde with carbon fiber reinfoced polymer CFRP sheets. In this technique, with carbon fiber reinforced polymer CFRP sheets. in this technique CFRP battens do not experienced any curvature in confining the section but are strtched as completely flat streips similar to flat coupons. for the purposes of this study, 4 squere reinforced concrete RC columnns each with a cross section of 133-133 mm and height of 500 columns, each with a cross section load eccentricites of zero and 30 mm. the expermental results demonstrated that confining battens in the new method of corner strip-batten are uniformly stretched under the tension stresses of confinement , therefore more unifrom strtched under the tension stressies of confinememt therefore , more uniform distribution of confining confined through the CSB thechnique exhibit improved performance in terms of enhanced enhanced load carryint capacity and ducility under eccfentric loading.
