Abstract:

Around theworld, there are thousands of kilometers of roads which one of the main purposes of them is transporting people and goods. Nowadays, application of renewablesources of energy for generation of electrical energy is an important issue. Based on this case, pavement as a transportation facility can help tosave the sunlight energy for generating the electrical energy. In this way, scientists believe that it is possible to harvest energy from sunlighton the roads and convert it to electrical energy. Application of solar panels in the asphalt structure is one of the novel and modernmethodsfor this purpose. The solar panel embedded in the asphalt could be used for power streetlights and signs. In winter, this electrical energy couldeven melt snow and ice. This paper compares different experiences of design, evaluation, constructs the prototypes of this new technologyof the solar pavement. The results of this research are shown that construction and implementation of solar road panel is feasibleand through on, the solar roadways will collectsolar energy to power streetlights and signs andcanbe placed in parking lots and roadways in lieu of petroleum-based asphalt surfaces to reduce pollution of petroleum production, reduction ingreenhouse gasses and consumption in power through usage of photovoltaic panels.
