Abstract:
The biodiesel as an alternative fuel was produced from transesterification reaction of Malaysian RBD Palm oil with different catalysts. KOH and NaOH are used as catalysts in this reaction at temperature 60 oC stirred in 600 rpm. Gas chromatography was applied to analyze the produced biodiesel. FAME (fatty acid methyl ester) contents are comparable with other research works. The yields of reactions show that KOH is a better catalyst in this reaction conditions. Finally a comparison between produced biodiesel properties (Kinematic viscosity, Flash point, Cetane number, Density, Acidity number) and conventional diesel fuel was carried out.
