Abstract:
The aim of this study was to monitor the concentrations of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb),copper (Cu), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), and iron (Fe) in the muscles oftwo fish species, Tiger-tooth croaker (Otolithes ruber) and Yellow-spotted king fish(Carangoides fulvoguttatus), from the Chabahar area in southern Iran, and to identifyany relationships between the species. The metal concentrations in the muscle of O.ruber and C. fulvoguttatus are decreased in the following sequence: Fe > Zn > Cu > Pb > Co > Cr > Ni > Cd. The results showed no significant differences between themales and females in both fish species (P> 0.05). Also, the results indicated that therewere a significant correlations between fish total length and weight withconcentrations of Zn and Pb in the different examined muscle tissues. In conclusion, the results revealed that Cd, Cu, Zn, and Pb concentrations in the muscle of bothspecies are below levels of concern for human consumption.
