Abstract:

To investigate the length-weight relationship in Liza abu, totally 90 specimens werecaught using gill net, cast net (25-55 mm, mesh size) and electrofishing duringAugust and September 2008 in Karkheh River (near Andimeshk). Total length andweight were measured to the nearest 1 mm and 1 g, respectively. Mean ± standarddeviation total length and weight were 182.596 ± 30.596 mm and 74.151 ± 25.793 g,respectively. The relationship between total length and weight of all fish was Log W= 1.36 + 2.86 Log L, the correlation was 92% and b value indicated a negativeallometric growth. The value of condition factor according to the slope of theregression line for all fish in this study calculated as 0.78 (0.68-0.82), which wasconsistent with previous studies in nearby areas.
