Abstract:

To investigate the length-weight relationships in Barbus grypuss, totally 193specimens (38 males, 103 females and rest non-determined sex) were caught using agill net (25-95 mm mesh) during June to December 2008 from the Lake KarkhehDam (Andimeshk, Khuzestan Province). Total length and weight of specimens weremeasured to the nearest 1 mm and 1 g, respectively. An independent t-test showedsignificant difference between males and females (p<0.05). the mean total length andweight were 530.022±88.408 (SD) mm and 1158.702±853.505 (SD) g, respectively. The relationship between total length and weight of males was LogW=-2.49+3.319LogL, females LogW=-2.96+3.46LogL, and all fish LogW=-2.68+3.31LogL, in allcases, the correlation was more than 96% and the b value indicated a positiveallometric growth pattern. The condition factor of this species in Karkheh Dam formales was 0.70 (0.67-0.84), females 0.88 (0.78-0.99) and all fish 0.79 (0.60-0.99).
