Online video streaming applications: Performance measurement over cellular and Wi-Fi networks

The online video streaming provides a variety of benefits for the users of these services. However, streaming videos consumes excessive amount of bandwidth far more than any other web service. therefore, to provide a decent end-user experience and fulfill the requirements of these services, higher-speed networks are required. Among the alternative solutions this work takes into account cellular Lone Term Evolution (LTE) and wireless 802.11ac networks for delivery of the video packets. To even enhance the video delivery process, called Priority set scheduling (PSS) and Channel-QoS Aware (CQA) scheduling algorithms are also utilized. The performance of video streaming using the two algorithms is measured and compared to when the video packets are treated normally as best-effort packets.
