Abstract:

Plastic injection processes comprise injection, packing, cooling, ejection and process/part quality control applications. These steps are followed for the plastic parts in design phase. In this study, Moldflow software is used in order to collection responses to minimize shrinkage of part as a failure and minimize in-mold pressure as a factor that significantly affect the quality of injection molded plastic parts. Mold temperature, melt temperature and gate location are considered as model variables. Taguchi technique is utilized to obtain the optimal combination of design parameters. Also Analyze of Variance is done to evaluate the effect of processing parameters on responses. The results indicate that melt temperature has maximum effect on objects.
