Abstract:
In this paper, an analytical solution for the ring rolling process is presented based on the slab method. Non uniform distribution of stresses through the deforming zone has been taken into account in this formulation. The effects of the process key parameters on rolling pressure, force and torque were investigated. Considering the variations in these parameters, an equivalent friction factor for any friction coefficient was obtained and a simple relation for these two features in this process was proposed. Comparing the analytical results of this model with the experimental results of other investigators, good agreements were observed.
