Abstract:

Single point incremental forming is an emerging sheet-metal-forming technology, capable of manufacturing complex parts at low cost for small to medium-batch production. Accurate evaluation of the forming limits of the process which leads to failed production plays a major role on prosperous studies and designs. For this purpose, in contrast with experimental studies, numerical simulations can be applicable tools. Nowadays, continuum damage mechanics models have been introduced as promising methods to investigate fracture behavior in ductile materials. In present work, based on Lemaitre’s damage model, the forming limit in single point incremental forming process is evaluated i.e. a damage criterion is picked to resolve the threshold on product failure. After identification of material damage parameters, the procedure is simulated within finite element analysis. A finite element code coupled with the Lemaitre’s damage model is developed in three-dimensional to predict forming limit of process on material.
