Assessing the technical efficiency of Agricultural Bank branches in Tehran, using data envelopment analysis (DEA)

The present study assessed the performance of the branches of AgriculturalBank in Tehran province using data envelopment analysis (DEA). In thisstudy, five factors including number of employees, hours of training, the areaof the branch in terms of square meters, total costs (wages + interest paid +operating costs) and total receivables, were used as resources and inputs, inorder to evaluate the performance of ۹۹ branches of the Agricultural Bank inTehran. Also, seven factors were considered to be the model outputs; thesefactors include the total interest and income received, amount of transactionsof point of sale (POS) devices, the number of credit cards issued, the numberof documents issued , the amount of transactions in communication channels,the total facilities granted and total deposits. This study compared theefficiency of two traditional DEA and the DEA of the data is based on anaddition ideal virtual positive and negative units. The results show that theaddition of two ideal virtual positive and negative units increased the accuracyof the DEA.
