Abstract:

The length of Iranian coast in Persian gulf (including the islands of Qeshm, Khark, etc.) in is more than 2000 km. For construction of Rubble mound breakwaters and jetties the suitable quarries with acceptable qualities is a need. From the other side using of artificial concrete blocks is not so desirable due to destructive effects of sea water on normal concrete. Only in Genu Gachin-Kong there are rocks with good qulities with Igneous sources, deu to salt doms. These igneous quarries are already have been used in cinstruction of breskwaters such as Bandar Abbas, Bandar Lengeh, Kong, Shenas, Kuhin and others. But these locations are very rare. The distsnce of some parts in persian Gulf from these sites are very far (more than 200 km). For the reason of distance the transportion of huge amount of quarry production for using in break waters is very difficult, time consuming and noneconomical. For the mentioned reasons using of local limestone in coastal area is unavoidable. Already these lime stones have been used in many breakwaters and jetties along side Persian Gulf and Oman sea coast. Among them: Deylam, Genaveh, Khark island. Busher Risher. Mohammad Ameri, Kangan, Nakhl Tagi, Assaluye Dajvad, Kish Island, Qeshm Island, Suza, Salakh and Chabahar can be mentined.
