Environmental Ranking of Ecological Sensitivity of Qeshm Island Coastlines-Straight of Homoz, Persian Gulf

Environmental ranking of the coastal regions of the country has gained significant support and attention from the Department of the Environment (DOE) in recent years. This is due to itsobjectives of assessing the sensitivity and vulnerability of coastal regions to socio-economic development and selection of areas to be environmentally managed in the quadripartite categories of the DOE. On this basis, the entire coastline of Qeshm Island with a length of about290 kilometers was studied through field surveys and observations. All data and information regarding the mapping of coastline habitats and their bio resources within the intertidal and adjacent subtidal zone were determined using GPS and then fed into GIS system for further work.
