Abstract:Recent studies on hazard assessment of Iranian coastlines has revealed that the probability of tsunami attacks on Iranian coastlines of the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf due to subductionzone earthquakes is not high . On the other hand, historical evidences indicate that the risk oftsunami attack on the Iranian coastlines of the Oman Sea is highly probable, either generated in the western part of the Indian Ocean or generated by the Makran Fault . As it is observed in Figure 1, the Makran Fault lies in Oman Sea parallel to the Iranian Coastline with a distance of about 100 km.
