Abstract:

Bandar-e Anzali County has an appropriate potential for power generation from renewable source of municipal waste in a small scale due to waste production of about 150 tons per day. In this paper, feasibility of installation ofanaerobic fermentation power plant has been assessed from technical and economic viewpoints through analyzing the wastes data of the city in terms of amount and components. Resultsshow that it is feasible to install a 1.5 Megawatt power plant to generate electricity using anaerobic fermentation of wastes of this county. Return period of investment for construction of such a plant has been estimated equal to 4.5 years due to guaranteedprice of electricity by Ministry of Energy. In the following, through analyzing of wind data in Bandar-e Anzali County and considering the specifications of a wind turbine made by BergeyCompany (USA), installation of such units as been evaluated economically in the county and the results were analyzed. According to the investigations, installation of wind turbines withlow cutting speed of about 5 mps is not recommended economically in this county.
