Abstract:

Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) as well as Support Vector Machines (SVM) are very powerful tools which can be utilized for pattern recognition. They are being used in a large array of different areas including medicine. This article exemplifies the applicability of computer science in medicine, particularly dermatological tools and software which uses ANN or SVM. Basic information about ANN, including description of Back- Propagation Learning Algorithm, has also been introduced as well as information about SVM. Finally the system for face recognition .Face recognition has been developed in two versions: using ANN and SVM. Both versions have been tested and their results of face recognition.
