Abstract:
The Sureyan area, located on the eastern edge of the Sanandaj– Sirjan metamorphic zonesouthwest Iran, include the Sureyan Permo-Triassic volcano-sedimentary complex. The purposeof this study was to evaluate the use of ASTER VNIR+SWIR data for mapping the lithologicalunits by the use of Spectral feature fitting (SFF) algorithm. The reference spectra of rock sampleswere extracted from dataset using Z-profile approach. Results showed that lithological unitsincluding limestone, Metamorphic-Solcano-Sedimentary complex, shale, sandy limestone andmetatuffs, phylite, and siltstone could be discriminated at the area. It was concluded that anintegration of ASTER data and SFF algorithm could be successful in lithological enhancement,which can be used for improving the large-scale geological mapping
