Water coning phenomena investigation and provide appropriate solutions

Coning phenomenon is one of the major problems in oil production wells. In the water coning, water from the bottom of perforation location come to well. This phenomenon is caused by fluid motion in the direction of least resistance. Coning have high influence on the final product, increase operating costs and environmental problems. When the viscous force in the direction perpendicular to overcome the gravitational force, the contact surfaces are moved and causing condensation cone. This phenomenon usually occurs when a high production rate wells is imposed. In this study, some of the parameters affecting the water coning phenomena that affect the production of oil and water was studied. The results of this study show that increased density difference, reducing the viscosity ratio of oil to water, reducing permeability and reduce the rate of production, causing to reduce water production. More over, the reservoir rock be more water-wet the water production in reservoir decreases.
