Abstract:

When an intensive laser pulse propagates through the plasma, an ion channel as well a plasma wave can be generated in the plasma environment. The electrons of plasma in the ion channel can interact with the excited plasma wave and be accelerated to high energies. In the present paper, acceleration of electron by a plasma wave in a new configuration with an ion-channel and a longitudinal wiggler is studied numerically. The trajectories and energy gain of a relativistic electron are illustrated solving three-dimensional Lorentz force equations. Direct three - dimensional single particle code and fourth order Runge-Kutta method are applied to parametric analysis of the equations governing the electron dynamics. The longitudinal wiggler strongly affects the electron trajectory as well as the energy gain of electron. Such a configuration can yield an increase of the electron energy in the presence of a longitudinal wiggler.
