Abstract:Landfill leachate is the product of either waste which containing liquid or rainfall that percolates through landfills and dissolves the organic and inorganic materials. Moreover, the quantity and the physico-chemical quality of the leachate which is originated from municipal solid waste (MSW) is relatively different and varied. One of the known characteristics of the landfill leachate is potential of clogging which is a problematic issue in the gravel drainage layers of the landfills. However, this property has been investigated to utilize landfill leachate instead of water for soil compaction in earthwork operation of road projects. The research has shown that the clogging potential may function efficiently in granular base course, but it is not apt for earthworks operation which containing some percentages of fine aggregates such as clay and silt.
