Abstract:

Permeable wooden pile groynes have a long tradition as being part of the coastal protection in coastal engineering. They are built to protect beaches from eroding by reducing thecurrent velocity along the beach. Permeable groynes reduce the original current velocity originating from the tide or breaking waves while not changing the general flow field and without altering streamlines as much as impermeable groynes. As a consequence, the sediment transport capacity reduces also these types of groynes are well known as a soft method. In this research the recognition and investigation of coastal processes of Permeable Wooden pile groynes in coastal waters under the influence of current and wave forcing and behavior of the flow field around groynes and investigates the hydraulic flow field near groynes have been considered
