Abstract:
Public spaces are the substrate of growth and development of civil society. Feeling of comfort and safety in these places is something inevitably necessity and lack of attention to design them properly could create different kinds of threats in city and its social life; therefore, insecurity and social anxiety in these spaces prevent the growth and development of the city. Public spaces, as basis and grounding elements of social interaction and communication creators, require more security than any urban environment. Consequently today, in urban planning processes, component of security in public urban spaces and establishing sustainable strategies to promote it, has been taken into consideration as fundamental principle. Designing and securing urban spaces, in order to promote physical and psychological sense of security for citizens, seems something necessary for taking the basic step to sustainability; therefore, recognition and application of effective components would be checked in order to secure urban environment. In this study, which is done in analytic method, first, the security and secure urban environment, and then usage of sustainable architecture, in order to enhance the safety of architectural spaces, are studied. Finally, by analyzing these two categories of researches, designing strategies are presented to achieve safety and secure urban environment. Library research method is used for data collecting.
