Abstract:

Glass facades have been used as a building coating since modern architecture era. Applying these types of facades have several beneficial points such as: declining the dead load of the high-rise building, acceleration of construction process and combining interior and exterior spaces.While, Glass-facades with low heat resistance and thickness, cannot provide thermal comfort for interior spaces. These facades make interior spaces almost warmer than outside temperature in hot or moderate seasons. In addition, the glass temperature is normally near the outside temperature in wet seasons which transmit heat with the human body near this facades.In this research first, we will categorize buildings according to their importance of declining energy consumption, literature review, understanding the thermal needs of office building users, glass facades elements and studying Mashhad climate weather condition.In the next step, we will analyze the application of the Phase-changing material in the glass facades and model the thermal behavior of such facades in the CFD program. The thermal contours clearly show the heat transfer in the glass façades and PCM thermal behavior when heated by sun rays during day time. The results will helpful for designing high-efficiency building façades. The research is mainly aim to find an appropriate way for designing high efficiency building envelope which is mainly influence the building total energy consumption across the year
