Abstract:

In this paper, an eddy current nondestructive evaluation method for coating thickness measurement is established. In this regard, R and XL signals of eddy current are used for determining the thickness measurement of coating on ferrous metal base material. A regression method has been applied to estimate the relationship between R and XL signals, and thickness. To reach the purpose, it is essentially needed to obtain more than five samples and their exacted thicknesses. Finally, the results are compared with experimental data obtained from an absolute probe for checking the validity of the investigation. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is a reliable and highly effective method.
