Abstract:

In this paper, a mathematical analysis of photovoltaic arrays in total-cross-tied (TCT) configuration (2 × 2) under different partial shading condition is presented. At thebeginning, equivalent circuit of a solar cell with single diode is discussed and electrical parameters of the equivalent circuit isintroduced to explain the characteristics of the module or thePV array under normal situation. The same solar cell model with single diode is used for mathematical analysis. Thendifferent sizes of the TCT array under partial shading condition is simulated by MATLAB software and a comparison is madebetween the simulation results and of Bridge Link (BL) and Series Parallel (SP) configurations and therefore the advantagesof TCT configuration under partial shading than two otherconfigurations is shown. All of the required inputs of the simulation is extracted from standard data sheet of photovoltaic cell.
