Abstract:

In this paper, a single objective mathematical model for the problem of cell formation (CF) is presented. The proposed model is a non-linear integer programming model forthis problem considering reliability issues. In the objective function, in addition to considering general costs of cellular manufacturing systems, in order to make themodel more realistic several other costs including set up cost, penalty costs for low productive machines, and failure costshave been assumed. The goal of this paper is to determine a reliable route while considering reliability and itsprogramming challenges so that the overall system costs are minimized. According to solution complexities of this problem, artificial intelligence methods and meta-heuristic algorithmshave been utilized. Meta-heuristic methods not only enable us to handle large scale problems but also shorten duration of obtaining the optimal solution. One of such methods is genetic algorithm (GA). At the end, computational results of the proposed algorithm are presented and analyzed
