Abstract:
Background and Aim: Since the Conditions such as the metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes and CHD all tend to have peak prevalence in middle-aged and older individuals, so assessments of cardio-metabolic risk are important to define early causal factors and characterize preventive measures for progressive of chronic disease. The present cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the cardio-metabolic risk parameters among oil industry employees of Bushehr province.Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 13851 men and women aged 20-60 years working in oil industry of Bushehr province. The data of this research were extracted from the medical records, Systolic blood pressures (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were measured. Laboratory data included fasting blood sugar (FBS) results, high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein, triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol.Results: the prevalence of hyperlipidemia, hypertension and diabetes was 45.3%, 9.3% and 4.1% respectively. In addition, we measured the prevalence of hyperlipidemia, hypertension and diabetes among people over the age of 18 years of personnel families who referred to oil industry clinics, the prevalence of hyperlipidemia, hypertension and diabetes in personnel families was 42.8%, 6.1% and 3.3% respectively.Conclusion: hyperlipidemia, hypertension and diabetes are prevalent among Middle-aged men and women employed in oil industry of Bushehr province and their families. Regarding this high prevalence of chronic diseases, Improve lifestyle and increase physical activity and modify food pattern should be considered as the main method to prevent this chronic disease.
