Abstract:
Technology Transfer (TT) is fundamental to the development of new products and the transformation of technology in developed and developing countries. Given the historical technology gap between developed and developing countries it is necessary to develop tools and strategies that stimulate and support technology transfer to, and within developing countries. Critical factors, selection criteria and technological positioning indicators that should govern the adoption and implementation of transferred technologies in the sheet metal working industry were identified through a survey of sheet metal working companies. Based on the survey a framework for a Technology Transfer Decision Support System (TTDSS) application was developed and then a software system was designed based on the framework. The Technology transfer problem occurs in three domains namely necessity, feasibility and selection. The software system design includes the modules, database, end user-interface and a web based application that will be linked to the in-house TTDSS application.
