The purpose of this study is to evaluate the syngas production from biomass by simulation with ASPEN HYSYS software. The used fuel is a type of wood, named Hemlock, which consists mainly of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, as well as small amount of nitrogen and sulfur. The conversion of this solid fuel through pyrolysis and gasification processes in the temperature range of 700 to 2300 °C leads to the production of syngas. The syngas product at 60 °C contains 32% carbon monoxide, 66% hydrogen, 0.02% methane and 0.44% water. The main effective parameters on the final product are temperature and vapor content.
