Abstract:

Architecture and fashion are two fields of art, which has one major aim. This aim is the creation of protection for the human body at different scales. But, what makes them unique is by the aesthetic, functional and communicative criteria that might have some common aspects. On the other hand, Techniques used to shape these standards might be also common in both of these branches. In addition to a possible common ground, the two professions have mutual influence on each other that this impact could make them stronger. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between architecture and fashion, and focused on internal factors such as design techniques, culture, gender, space and time as much as external factors such as materials and technologies implied on the two artistic fields. Design techniques consist of composition and styles –e.g. gothic, deconstruction, folding and layering- which have stronger representations in fashion. Now the question is whether architecture and fashion have just a parallel connection or there is an interconnection between them If there is, the interrelationship How is created The research method used in this paper is a qualitative research and the data are collected and compared by library studies. The results show architecture and fashion have a strong relationship. These two professions have common conceptions such as art, science, technology, aesthetics, form and structure. These concepts are visible in examples of both30T and provide a proof of how they are interlinked. In addition, both of them are influenced by factors such as time, culture and society, and these factors also re-establish an interconnected relationship between them
