Abstract:
In this study, slope stabilization of embankments for constructing roads in Horolazim wetland , south west of Iran, have been investigated. Horolazim wetland located between Iran and Iraq. Major oil fields are common between Iran and Iraq in this wetland. In the Iranian part this wetland divided into 5 reservoirs. At the beginning of oil extraction, upper two reservoirs (reservoir 1 and 2) were full of water and reservoir 3, 4 and 5 were empty and drought. During construction of roads in these drought reservoirs the criteria for protecting slopes from water waves have not been meet. In recent years the stoplog concrete slabs on the 75 span culvert of Shatali road (border between reservoir 2 and 3) have been removed and by increasing water level from normal level of +4 water move from reservoir 2 toward reservoir 3, 4 and 5. Due to the wind direction water waves have destroyed majority of road embankments. In this research needed safety factor for slope stabilization of embankment slopes with Geocomposite filter and riprap have been calculated. By applying Geocomposite filter safety factor become 2.93 while without protection the slopes have been washed away. For stress-strain and slope stability analyses, software modelling have been constructed with Plaxis 8.2 and Geoslope 2007.
