Abstract:

An important problem in applied engineering is the dynamic steady state and transient res-ponses of the transversely isotropic circular cylindrical panel. However, most of the works available used various inexact two-dimensional theories with certain types of simplifications for isotropic materials, which are inaccurate in these applications because the large thickness of the panels in applied problems. This study investigates the dynamic steady state response and natural frequencies of an elastic circular cylindrical panel using an exact three-dimensional solution based on this decomposition technique. The modeled cylindrical panel is located on Pasternak and Winkler foundations. These foundations can model the imperfec-tion bounding in the applied problems such as multilayer panels or panels resting on elastic foundations such as soil. In addition, the formulation is written for both simply supported and clamped boundary conditions. Then, the natural frequencies, mode shapes, dynamic steady state response of the circular cylindrical panel in frequency domain is validated with com-mercial finite element software (ABAQUS) to show the validity of the mathematical formu-lation, and then the results compared. In the last part, the harmonic response of the system identified using subspace identification method in order to obtain a linear finite order state space model for dynamic response of the circular cylindrical panel is compared with analyti-cal model.
