Abstract:
Semi-active vibration control devices using non-linear methods have experienced significant devel-opment in recent years, due to their advantages compared with passive and active techniques. More precisely, semi-active pulse-switching technique, leads to a very good trade-off between simplicity, required power supply and performance. Different materials such as piezoelectric or magnetostric-tive materials (MsM) are used in this technique as smart actuators. In MsM-based semi-active pulse-switching technique the inverting switch triggers on each extremum of the pick-up coil cur-rent produced by magnetostrictive effect which leads to energy dissipation. There is an important question in all vibration control techniques, which is about damping performance for different ex-ternal excitations. In this paper using a theoretical model, resulted damping for almost all of the external excitations using the MsM-based semi-active pulse-switching technique is presented and numerical results show a significant damping for almost all excitation types
