Abstract:
Noise pollution is one of the main harmful physical factors in work environments in devel-oped and developing countries, which not only causes a variety of physiological effects, but also accounts for psychiatric and psychological disorders. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the effects of noise on aggression in automotive industry workers. This is a cross-sectional analytical study carried out on the workers in the Iranian automotive industry. The subjects were randomly selected from different parts of the paint shop. The workers’ ag-gression was measured using the Buss & Perry s Questionnaire, and the noise at workplace was also measured. A total of 250 individuals with the mean age of 36.07±3.66 participated in this study. There was a significant correlation between the intensities of the measured noise and the scales of workers’ aggression (P value <0.05). Also, a significant relationship was found between the intensity of received noise and the scores of aggression subscales (P value <0.05).Generally, it could be concluded that exposure to noise in work environments increased the incidence of tensions and inappropriate behaviors associated with aggression. Hence, controlling noise through personal and public protective equipment might reduce the impact of noise on workers’ mental health and brain activities.
