Abstract:
The concept of an Acoustic Black Hole (ABH) has been developed and utilized as a new ap-proach for passively attenuating structural vibration. In the present work, the effect of ABH absorb-er on the transient vibrational behavior and the steady state of a Free-Free beam with linear and torsional springs on one edge is compared with the beam with a constant thickness-damping layer. In previous work, the focus was on the effect of ABH in the semi-infinite beams, while in the pre-sent work, the effect of ABH on a finite length beam is studied. The obtained results show that the superiority of ABH s to the uniform layer of the viscous layer, occurs only in a narrow range of the parameters.
