Abstract:

Background: Nanomicelle curcumin (NCu) (as more effective form of curcumin), is assorted as one of the potential anti-cancer medications, which is widely consumed. Considering the importance of fertility, several studies were conducted in order to investigate the possible adverse impact of curcumin on fertilization potential; however the effects of NCu on zygote generation and percentage of pre-implantation embryos have not been assessed. Methods: To perform this study, 24 male wistar rats were divided into control and 3 test groups (NO: 6 rats in each group). The animals in each test group received 7.5 mg/kg, 15 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg NCu (by gavages). Following 48 days, the sperm samples were collected and moved to mR1ECM medium. The oocytes were picked out from supreovulated (25 IU PMSG and 15 IU HCG) healthy female rats. Then, to perform in vitro fertilization (IVF), 10 μl from the sperm medium (containing 3.0-3.6 × 106 sperms) were added to each drop containing 10 -20 oocytes.Result: The results revealed thatthe NCu remarkably (PConclusion: In conclusion, the NCu, even in 7.5 mg/kg dosage, possesses adverse effects on zygote generation as well as pre-implantation embryos development.
