Abstract:
In this study, a truly meshless method is developed based on the integral form of equilibrium equation for each sub-domain inside the global domain. This meshless method is formulated for two dimensional generalized plane strain assumption with material discontinuity. In the absence of body forces the domain integration of the weak form is avoided from the formulation and so the presented method computationally is very effective. The presented method is employed for prediction of the micro-stresses and elastic behavior of unidirectional Carbon/Epoxy composite. The appropriate boundary conditions are imposed to the representative volume element (RVE) employing a direct interpolation method. The fullybonded fiber-matrix interface condition is assumed and continuity of displacements and traction are imposed to the interface. Results revealed that the presented model can provide highly accurate predictions with relatively small number of nodes and less CPU time. Predicted results show excellent agreement with finite element analysis and available results in the literature.
