Abstract:

A parametric study was accomplished to investigate the effects of temperature, pressure and magnetic flux density variations on MHD generator performance. A constant-velocity Faraday-type MHD generator was considered. The effects of viscosity were ignored and, therefore, the 1-D equations were solved. The results showed that these parameters had significant effects on MHD performance. Any increment in these parameters caused to MHD performance enhancement. Magnetic flux density had no effect on output power but it showed a significant effect on generator length and electrode area.
