Abstract:

Power draw of tumbling millsis high and the optimization studies will be so cost beneficial. There are two conventional ways to study the effect of milling parameters on its performance: discrete element method (DEM) and employing laboratory mills.Former is a time consuming way requiring very advanced computers and the latter is an expensiveand also time consuming option. In the present work a theoretical model is used topredict the mill charge profile and power consumption. The model results are appropriate accordance to the measurements of a laboratory mill. Since the laboratory mill is scale-down of an operating mill in the Sarcheshmeh copper complex, the proposed model can be used to evaluate the power draw of this operating mill.
