Abstract:

This paper presents the effects of dynamic properties of thefixture, especially transmissibility in experimental fatigueanalysis. Endurance limit extraction of structures demandslarge stresses to be applied. Therefore, high powerequipment would be needed for excitation. Improvingfixture design considering dynamic properties can lead tothe same stress levels by using lower power shakers. In thispaper transmissibility feature of the designed fixture isenhanced, so that the generated motion by shaker isamplified and transferred to the structure being tested, which is a compressor blade. The procedure involves fixturemodeling and implementation of numerical simulation fornatural frequency determination. Knowing the first naturalfrequency of the blade, transmissibility value is extractedusing theoretical equations. After achieving the desiredmagnification, the fixture is fabricated and experimentaltests are performed.
