Abstract:

Investigation of drag forces on cars has always been one ofthe major problems engineering. In this study, the dragforce on Peugeot 405 model was studied using experimentalmethods in the wind tunnel. In engineering applicationsthere are various ways for measurement of the forces whichexerted on objects in the wind tunnel. In this study, the hotwire anemometer as well as load cells used to study the dragcoefficient and the results were compared with each other.In this research velocities of wind tunnel is in the range of8-58 m/s which equivalent of 10000-25000 Reynoldsnumber. The results show that with increasing velocity dragcoefficient at first increases and then decreases. The dragmomentum which result from the difference between thefront and back of car model momentum is the major dragforce and the effect of the Reynolds stresses are low.
