Abstract:

In the recent years, with increased attention to repair andmaintenance in various industries, Structure HealthMonitoring (SHM) by the use of Ultrasonic Guided WavesPropagating method attracted the attention of manyresearchers. SHM is one of the most critical tools forassessment and assurance of the health of structures andbuildings. Over the last decade, many researches are done inorder to implement and develop the application of SHM todetect the defects in mechanical, aerospace and civilstructures. Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) is one of thebest methods in SHM, which is used to diagnose the locationand damage scale in structures. In this paper the numericalsimulation and experimental tests of defect detection processon an Aluminum plate is presented. Signal DifferenceCoefficient (SDC) index and Reconstruction Algorithm forProbabilistic Inspection of Defects (RAPID) algorithm areused in experimental test to locate the defect.
