Abstract:

As filament and tape winding process are widely used in fabrication of many structures therefor evaluate of their mechanical properties are very important in analysis of structures. Currently carbon-phenolic composites are mostly used in high temperature application. In this investigation engineering constants and strength properties of bidirectional carbon/phenolic composite laminates manufactured by tape winding process obtained. These properties are obtained for temperatures between 23- 200°C. For this purpose, experimental testare done. According to ASTM standard flat specimen are used for both tensile and compression tests. For manufacturing of specimens, bidirectional prepreg carbon-T300/resol tape is used. After winding, the laminate cured in autoclave. Tensile Module andstrength in 0° and 90° directions, Poisson’s ratio and compressive strength in 0° and 90° directions are evaluate in this study. The tensile module measured by using extensometer but Poisson’s ratio measured by strain gage. Finally, properties in different temperatureare reported and compared with together. Observing the results doesn’t lead to a clear relation between temperature and composite strength in the considered range of temperature.
