Abstract:

Textile effluent is a potent resource for water reclamation because of the production of voluminous wastewater. Methylene blue is a cationic dye which is used in histologic microbiologic, and tissue staining and it employed by textile industries for a variety of purposes which is harmful for environment. All around the world scientists suggest different ways to remove it which among them green ones pay more attention. In this research, we used kaolin as low-cost, natural mineral nanoclay to synthesize g-C3N4 -kaolin, photo catalyst to degrade methylene blue dye under visible light conditions and at ambient temperature. Synthesis procedures are easy and there is no need to higher reaction temperature and pressure. The nanomaterials were characterized using XRD, SEM, EDX and FTIR. Pollutant degradation ability of the synthesized nanophotocatalyst from wastewater was investigated. Dye removal at 20 mg/L of dye was 68 %. Contaminant adsorption capacity of the g-C3N4-kaolin nanophotocatalyst was 172.5 mg/g. The isotherm and kinetic data of dye removal by the synthesized adsorbents obeyed the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second order kinetics.
